Camp Ten Trees is an overnight summer camp located in Washington State. Camp Ten Trees features one week for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, and one week for the children of LGBTQ families. At Camp Ten Trees, children and youth build self-confidence and strength in diversity in an environment which challenges homophobia and provides a range of traditional camp activities. Camp Ten Trees is a place for diverse youth who share common experiences to come together and form a community that is truly their own. In addition to typical camp activities, campers will engage in age-appropriate workshops centered around diversity, homophobia, identity, and youth coalition building. Camp Ten Trees is a 501(C)3 non-profit and depends on donations and grants. We exist to serve a large community and we appreciate any donations, either financial or in-kind. To make a tax-deductible donation, or for questions about our donation needs, please e-mail us. Camp Ten Trees is run by a team of directors. The directors bring a diversity of experience to Camp Ten Trees, including backgrounds in teaching, social work, non-profit work, community organizing, and law. Additionally, the directors share many years of experience as long time campers, camp counselors, and camp directors in a variety of camps across the United States! For more information about the directors of Camp Ten Trees, please e-mail us. Camp Ten Trees boasts a minimum of one staff member to every five campers. Each staff member completes a comprehensive training curriculum, combining general camp safety and daily routines with the specific needs of a camp serving the LGBTQ community. Our specialty areas (waterfront, archery range) are directed by nationally certified instructors. All staff members volunteer their time, and are committed to helping campers build self-confidence, work together, and set and achieve goals. Camp Ten Trees is a program of GCSS, and is made possible with the help of a generous grant from the Pride Foundation. Links we like: |
